This project was part of the Lancashire BSF programme and provides 750 places for 11-16 year old pupils. It is a split level 2/3 storey steel-framed building with in-situ concrete metal deck and precast floors. Roofing comprised a light weight acoustically insulated roof incorporating plant space hidden behind a high parapet. The site lies within a housing zone so the local community was engaged prior to and during construction.

Programme and targets were detailed and carefully planned to ensure that all parties were aware of their respective roles and deadlines. The project was delivered on time and on budget, and to the required quality demanded by the client & end-user. In terms of sustainability, the project achieved a BREEAM ‘Very Good’. In addition, the school is undertaking a number of schemes which will enhance the local community and improve the visibility of its sustainable features in the future such as preparation in the Eco-Schools programme.
