Medway Maritime Hospital

Shepherd Gilmour are the lead Structural Engineer for the redevelopment of the Medway Maritimes Hospitals Accident and Emergency Village whilst it is still fully functional. This is working with the challenging deadlines of the NHS. We also use Building Information Modelling (BIM) for the increased accuracy and efficiency of the project.

Emergency Ward Reconfiguration, Medway Maritime Hospital

Medway NHS Foundation Trust was one of 14 healthcare trusts in the UK identified by Sir Bruce Keogh in 2013, as demonstrating persistently high mortality rates. Subsequent visits by bodies including the Care Quality Commission identified the Emergency Department, as one of the key areas that needed urgent attention to bring the department in line with current best practice guidelines.

Bringing our extensive experience of acute healthcare, we are working with the Trust to meet a challenging timetable of deadlines to reconfigure the emergency ward. Our team is using Building Information Modelling (BIM) to bring the benefits of increased accuracy and efficiency to the project.
